Taper Lock Sprockets are used mainly to elimate re-boring and keywaying problems and with taper lock bushings you have a variety of different shaft sizes.
When something is “tapered,” the shape is narrowed to a point. In the case of sprockets, the teeth have the tapered shape. A common type of visible sprocket is the one found on bicycles. A chain wraps around the sprocket in order to put the sprocket in motion, which in turn moves the wheel. This is the same concept with industrial machinery that use sprockets as well.
